Ways To Give

A donor-advised fund (DAF) enables individuals to donate to charities and receive a tax deduction right away. The DAF custodian manages the funds, and donors can suggest grants to their chosen nonprofit organizations. Donors can contribute to the fund gradually and suggest grants to charities whenever they wish, offering flexibility in their giving.

Benefits include:

• Retain the flexibility to make grant recommendations over time.
• Receive an immediate tax deduction when contributing to your fund.
• Make an immediate impact on APFED’s mission.

Stock Donations

Donating non-cash assets to a non-profit can significantly benefit both the organization and the donor. By giving appreciated assets, such as stocks and securities, you can avoid paying capital gains taxes and may qualify for an income tax deduction equal to the full value of the gift, provided you've owned the assets for more than one year.

How it works:

• Enter your stock symbol and the number of stocks you would like to donate
• Follow the instructions to complete the transaction

Organizing a community walk is more than just a fundraiser -- it raises awareness and gives community members an opportunity to connect in person!

• Choose a Date & Location: Let APFED know the date and location, and we’ll help you arrange the logistics.
• Build Your Fundraising Team: Form a team with friends, family, or colleagues to amplify the impact.

Chuck-a-Duck – A fun family event, especially for the kids, and it’s easy to plan!

We promise you that hosting a “Chuck-a-Duck” fundraiser will be a lively and entertaining way to raise money. Even better, the planning for such an event is minuscule.

By organizing a "Chuck a Rubber Duck" fundraiser with creative game variations, you can attract participants of all ages and backgrounds while raising funds for your cause in a fun and memorable way.

With over 1,600 online stores, you are bound to find what you are looking for through iGive.com. Donation percentages vary by retailer and can be reviewed before purchasing on the iGive website. This is an ongoing, yearlong opportunity to support APFED.

Charity Choice Gift Cards

Struggling with what to give that person who “has everything”? Give them a CharityChoice Gift Card! Gift cards may be tax-deductible and 75% of the card value will automatically support APFED. The recipient can choose to donate the other 25% to APFED or another charity of their choice.

Fundraising with social media is a great way to celebrate a birthday or other milestone! Start a social media fundraising campaign on your favorite social media platform, and ask your friends, family and coworkers for their support.

Through APFED’s Facebook fundraising tools, you’ll have the ability to customize your own fundraising campaign and share your personal story. Set up your fundraiser here, and share it with friends and family!

Legacy Giving – Preserve Your Legacy and Make an Impact on Others

When you're creating your estate plan, you can make a lasting impact on others. If you've ever considered donating to a charitable organization, consider incorporating it into your estate plan. Planned giving provides enduring support to an organization and allows you to leave a lasting family legacy.

Your gift can be established in your will or as part of a trust, and an estate planning lawyer can assist you through the process. There are several tax and legal benefits to planned giving:

• Charitable gifts are often exempt from estate tax.
• Donors can avoid capital gains taxes when transferring assets as part of planned giving.
• Planned giving allows for major gifts that might not have been feasible during your lifetime due to financial constraints.

There are three main ways to establish a planned gift:

• Outright gifts - a one-time contribution directly to the organization, such as cash, securities, or stock.
• Gifts that return income - These gifts provide ongoing financial support, such as a Charitable Remainder Trust that pays the organization a fixed percentage or a set dollar amount annually.
• Gifts payable upon the donor's death - typically outlined in the estate plan, these gifts avoid estate tax. For example, naming the organization as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy.

Planned giving offers the opportunity to make the most significant contribution of your life to a charitable organization. This transforms the organization's financial landscape and preserves your legacy for generations to come.

Multiply the impact of your generosity by checking if your employer offers a matching gift program. Many companies will match their employees' charitable donations, effectively doubling or even tripling your contribution to APFED. The process is usually simple - reach out to your HR department or check your company's internal giving portal to see if APFED qualifies for matching funds. This is an easy yet powerful way to maximize your support and help us continue our vital work in the eosinophilic community.

Turn a meal into meaningful support! Restaurant fundraisers are a simple, delicious way to raise funds and awareness for eosinophilic disorders. Many popular restaurants will donate a percentage of sales (typically 15-25%) from your event to APFED, making this one of the easiest ways to support our mission.

How It Works

1. Choose a Restaurant: Select from our partner restaurants listed below. Each has an established community fundraising program and a clear process.
2. Schedule Your Event: Contact your chosen restaurant using their website link below. Most venues require 2-4 weeks' advance notice to set up your fundraiser.
3. Promote Your Event: Once confirmed, share your event with friends, family, coworkers, and social networks. We can provide digital flyers and social media templates to help spread the word!
4. Enjoy Your Meal: Gather on the designated date and enjoy good food for a great cause. When ordering, be sure attendees mention they're there for the APFED fundraiser.
5. Make an Impact: After your event, the restaurant will handle the donation process directly with APFED. You've just turned dining out into research, education, and support for families affected by eosinophilic disorders!

• Krispy Kreme offers an option to host virtually, with a designated campaign for up to 30 days. You choose what to charge for the donuts (Krispy Kreme suggests $9-13/dozen). Anything over $7.50/dozen is donated to APFED

Planning Tips

• Weekday evenings (especially Tuesdays and Wednesdays) often yield the highest participation
• Encourage take-out orders—most restaurants count these toward your fundraising total
• Remember that each restaurant has different policies—some require attendees to present a flyer, while others use a special code

• GroupRaise: An online platform that partners with over 10,000 restaurants to simplify the process of organizing restaurant fundraisers. When fundraising through GroupRaise, you must have a minimum of 20 sales to receive the donation.
• Family Night Out—Fundraise at Regal Cinemas through GroupRaise. Purchase sets of 2 movie tickets for $30, and Regal will donate 25% of the proceeds. (This makes a great gift!)

Vehicle Donations

Donating your vehicle will help support our mission of Education, Awareness and Research of Eosinophilic Disorders. All you need is a clear title and our representatives will take care of the rest, including pick up, at no cost to you. Once your vehicle is sold, you will be sent a tax receipt (if the gross proceeds total $500.00 or more), and the sale proceeds will be donated to APFED in your name. Download more information here.
