Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is a chronic, progressive disease of the esophagus driven by Type 2 inflammation (T2i). For many, it causes persistent and life-altering symptoms—and if left unrecognized or undertreated, it can lead to long-term esophageal damage.
Launched in May 2025, the Global EoE Position Paper was co-developed by leading medical experts and patient advocacy organizations, including the American Partnership for Eosinophilic Disorders (APFED). The paper calls for a more supportive policy environment—one that improves outcomes and reduces the burden of disease for patients and families.
In this landmark publication, we:
- Define the real-world burden of EoE
- Identify persistent gaps in care and access
- Recommend policy changes to support patients
- Promote collaborative solutions across healthcare systems
APFED was proud to serve on the steering committee for this collaborative effort and contribute directly to the paper’s authorship, ensuring that the patient voice remained central to recommendations.
