Fundraising can be a fun and rewarding way to support APFED’s mission and make a difference for those living with eosinophil-associated disorders.
The possibilities are endless – from something simple as asking co-workers to donate their coffee money once a week to hosting an event, such as a walk, golf tournament, or other fun and engaging community gathering.
Whether you raise $10.00 or $100,000, every dollar makes a difference. And your event not only raises funds to support APFED’s mission and advance research of eosinophil-associated disorders, but also helps create awareness in your community about eosinophil associated disorders. APFED will work with you to make your event a success and will assist you in all areas of coordinating and hosting a fundraiser to benefit APFED. To get started, email fundraise@apfed.org.

Planning a golf tournament involves several key steps to ensure a successful and enjoyable event:
- Identify a local golf course to collaborate with for your event.
- Create your planning committee.
- Determine the tournament format, such as individual stroke play, team scramble, or charity event, and set entry fees accordingly.
- Set your fundraising goals and establish a budget.
- Secure your sponsors.
- Determine your tournament format (see guidebook for suggestions.)
- Promote the tournament through various channels, including social media, local golf clubs, and community organizations, to attract participants of all skill levels.
- Hit the fairways and have fun!
- Don’t forget to express gratitude to sponsors, volunteers, and participants for their support in making the golf tournament a success.

Chuck-a-Duck – A fun family event, especially for the kids, and it’s easy to plan!
We promise you that hosting a “Chuck-a-Duck” fundraiser will be a lively and entertaining way to raise money. Even better, the planning for such an event is minuscule.
- Choose a suitable location with enough space for participants to "chuck" rubber ducks. This could be a park, school field, or any open area.
- Acquire a large quantity of rubber ducks for the event. Amazon and Oriental Trading Company are the most cost-effective providers of rubber ducks. Consider getting ducks in various colors or designs to add excitement.
- Promote the event through social media, local newspapers, flyers, and community bulletin boards. Emphasize the fun and charitable aspects of the fundraiser to attract participants.
- Create designated "Chuck a Rubber Duck" stations where participants can toss or launch rubber ducks toward targets. Here are several ways to conduct the game:
- Target Hoops: Set up hoops or buckets of varying sizes at different distances. Participants aim to toss their rubber ducks into the hoops, assigning different point values to each target based on difficulty.
- Rubber Duck Race: Create a racecourse with a water feature, such as a small stream or kiddie pool. Participants launch their rubber ducks into the water, and the first duck to reach the finish line wins a prize.
- Target Darts: Hang a large target board and assign point values to different sections. Participants throw their rubber ducks like darts, aiming to land them on the target for points.
- Duck Drop: Use a tall structure, such as a ladder or scaffolding, to drop rubber ducks from a height. Participants purchase ducks, and the closest duck to a designated target wins a prize.
- Charge participants a fee for the chucking activity. Offer incentives such as prizes for the highest scores or closest duck to the target.
- Acknowledge Supporters: Thank volunteers, sponsors, and participants for their contributions to the success of the fundraiser.
By organizing a "Chuck a Rubber Duck" fundraiser with creative game variations, you can attract participants of all ages and backgrounds while raising funds for your cause in a fun and memorable way.

- Contact local farms to see if they will host and/or donate pumpkins for your event.
- Have a few volunteers build a trebuchet (medieval-style catapult).
- Promote your event – social media is your friend here. You can also create eye-catching posters and flyers to attract participants and spectators.
- Register participants.
- Determine how much you will charge for the pumpkins (see the guidebook for suggestions).
- Ready, set LAUNCH!
- The pumpkin that goes the farthest distance – WINS!
By following these steps, you can host a memorable Pumpkin Chunkin fundraiser that raises funds, engages the community, and spreads awareness about your cause.

Legacy Giving – Preserve Your Legacy and Make an Impact on Others
When you're creating your estate plan, you can make a lasting impact on others. If you've ever considered donating to a charitable organization, consider incorporating it into your estate plan. Planned giving provides enduring support to an organization and allows you to leave a lasting family legacy.
Your gift can be established in your will or as part of a trust, and an estate planning lawyer can assist you through the process. There are several tax and legal benefits to planned giving:
- Charitable gifts are often exempt from estate tax.
- Donors can avoid capital gains taxes when transferring assets as part of planned giving.
- Planned giving allows for major gifts that might not have been feasible during your lifetime due to financial constraints.
There are three main ways to establish a planned gift:
- Outright gifts - a one-time contribution directly to the organization, such as cash, securities, or stock.
- Gifts that return income - These gifts provide ongoing financial support, such as a Charitable Remainder Trust that pays the organization a fixed percentage or a set dollar amount annually.
- Gifts payable upon the donor's death - typically outlined in the estate plan, these gifts avoid estate tax. For example, naming the organization as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy.
Planned giving offers the opportunity to make the most significant contribution of your life to a charitable organization. This transforms the organization's financial landscape and preserves your legacy for generations to come.
Stocks, Securities and Mutual Funds Donation
Donating non-cash assets to a non-profit can significantly benefit both the organization and the donor. By giving appreciated assets, such as stocks or real estate, you can avoid paying capital gains taxes and may qualify for an income tax deduction equal to the full value of the gift, provided you've owned the assets for more than one year.
How it works:
- Transfer appreciated securities directly to APFED.
- Receive your tax receipt for the value of the assets.
- The securities are sold, and the funds are put directly to use for the greatest impact.
