Let’s E.D.U.C.A.T.E. Together for National Eosinophil Awareness Week 2025

April 23, 2025

Eosinophils are a type of white blood cell that play an important role in our immune system, especially in defending against certain infections. However, when too many eosinophils are present without a known cause, it may be the result of an eosinophil-associated disease.

May 18-24, 2025 marks the 18th annual National Eosinophil Awareness Week (NEAW) — an opportunity to raise awareness, foster community, and spark conversations about these diseases, many of which are rare.  During this special week, we will also celebrate World Eosinophilic Diseases Day (May 18) and World EoE Day (May 22).

Whether you’re personally affected or supporting someone who is, there are many ways to get involved. Here are ideas built around our E.D.U.C.A.T.E. theme:

E – Educate

Learn about eosinophil-associated diseases and share infographics on social media with hashtags #NEAW and #EosAware.

D – Donate

Encourage your friends and family to contribute to eosinophil disease research.
Host an online or in-person fundraiser to support APFED’s mission.
Participate in the 2nd Annual Walk for Hope by walking, running, biking, or hiking. It’s easy to get involved—create a team to rally friends and family, or simply join Team APFED.

U – Unite

Register for EOS Connection 2025, APFED’s annual patient education conference. It’s hybrid again this year — join us in Raleigh-Durham, NC, or virtually, on June 26-28, and again on July 16-18 for our virtual research roundup.

C – Change

️ Advocate for policies that support people with eosinophil-associated diseases. Learn how to get involved.

A – Awareness

Light up the night magenta! Locations around the U.S. are hosting special lightings to raise awareness — see the full list and share pictures on social media with hashtags #NEAW and #EosAware.
Rock your magenta and shop new awareness shirts and merchandise in our Bonfire store — a portion of sales supports APFED’s mission to educate, advocate, raise awareness, advance research, and support patients and families!
️Share the link to APFED’s segment on the Viewpoint with Dennis Quaid!

T – Thank

Take a moment to thank the people who’ve supported your eos journey — send a card, message, or shoutout. If you’d like to make a donation in their honor, APFED has special e-cards to notify them of your gift!

E – Engage

Join Eos Connections, APFED’s supportive online community on the Inspire Network.
Help advance research by participating in surveys, registries, or clinical trials.

Share Your Story

Help others better understand eosinophil-associated diseases by sharing your story online. You can submit your story to us, or if you share it yourself through social media, use #NEAW and #EosAware in your posts!

We hope these ideas inspire you to take part in NEAW 2025 in meaningful ways. Whether you’re spreading the word or sharing your personal story, your voice makes a difference.

Be sure to tag APFED and use #NEAW2025 and #EosAware in your social media posts so we can celebrate your efforts!
